Gyedu-Blay Ambolley is a Ghanaian highlife musician, songwriter, producer, and composer. The first musician from Ghana and the world to formally incorporate rap forms into local highlife rhythms, Ambolley created the musical genre Simigwa.
A lot of concerns have been raised about Hi-Life going into extinct in Ghana.Well,some of the great legends in Hi-Life music can never keep mute to create awareness about the existence of our motherland heritage. Gyedu Blay Ambolley has given a speech at the launch of “Hi-Life is Alive Fun Club” in Accra yesterday.The program was attended by great legends in Hi-Life music and other personalities. Ambolley during his speech said he did not understand why our radio and TV stations would promote other genres of music and overshadow Hi-Life Music.He said let’s cherish our own because that is our heritage.He urged Ghanaians to rise up and uplift Hi-Life because we cannot sit and watch it die.He stated how sad it was for reggae,pop music and other genres of music to dominate the Ghanaian societies which have eventually led to the outcast of Hi-Life.He added the Hi-Life music is our identity and we should hold it very well with all pride.
