In a bid to contribute their quota to ensuring victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024, the party’s Professional Forum (ProForum) is training some 15,000 party members as polling agents for the 2024 general elections.

This was revealed by the President of ProForum, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley at the group’s 5th-anniversary dinner and awards night in Accra.

According to him, the group has “come up with other groups to assemble 1503 young professional forum members. These 1503 were former TEIN executives, student activists who have left the university and have not joined the party in any field.’

“We have completed the electoral manual system which we will use to train 15,000 polling agents. Mr. Chairman, we have completed the flow chart already, and that is what we are going to use for the training”, Mr Yalley said.

Mr Yalley added that the NDC ProForum has declared its full support for the candidature of Mr. John Mahama ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, pledging a sum of GH₵2million in support of his campaign.

“Your Excellency, we have a considerable number of voters in the electoral college of the NDC and we can assure you that all our members who have votes will, true to their words at Ejisu, vote for you. By the provision of article 9, we have also been given 10 golden votes and Mr. President, when you know that 1 vote can make a difference, I pledge all the 10 votes that the party has given us to you”, he said.

Call to unite TEIN

Speaking at the same event, the immediate past Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, underscored the need to unite the party’s Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) for victory 2024.

“We need to unite our TEIN across the country. All these various alumni of UCC, KNUST, Legon etc, if we are able to link them up, adopt them and support them, I think we will be making a very big impact on the various campuses. NDC used not to perform very well at the various campuses but at least in 2020, the picture changed and I believe that we need to take advantage of the momentum that have been generated and try and support them”, he stressed.

With a total of 693 members, the ProForum is an association of doctors, nurses, lawyers, lecturers, engineers, and communicators among others within the NDC.

The group was launched on March 6, 2018, under the leadership of Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, to assist the party with professional advice in times of need.

They celebrated their 5th anniversary on Sunday, with an awards ceremony to celebrate the contribution of the group to the growth of the party and the nation.

The event was attended by party bigwigs including former President John Mahama, Professor Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang, General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, Kofi Totobi Kwakye, Joseph Ade Coker, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa amongst others.
