A self-proclaimed prophet from Chimanimani found himself in Mozambique after he was kidnapped as punishment for dating married women from his village.
Two Mozambican nationals and their alleged Zimbabwean accomplice reportedly kidnapped Naison Sithole aged 35 and took him to Mozambique as punishment for his wrongdoings.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Manicaland Provincial Spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident to the State media.
According to the police report, the three only identified as Joro, Chokwarara, and Maphosa allegedly accused Sithole of having extramarital affairs with their wives, taking advantage of their vulnerabilities when they sought spiritual help from him.
After they kidnapped him, they allegedly assaulted him before demanding 10 thousand rands from his wife as ransom for his safe return.
The matter was reported to the police and community leaders from Chikwidzire village in Mozambique, where Sithole was being held, were roped in to helped negotiate for his release.
In other news, iHarare reported that a 38-year-old self-styled prophet reportedly raped a 25-year-old woman in a car after threatening her with a snake.
The suspect, Luckson Mapurisa of Budiriro suburb allegedly raped the complainant who had gone to his shrine for some prayers.
It is alleged that the complainant, who cannot be named for professional reasons, arrived at the shrine and Mapurisa indicated that they had to go to a nearby place for the prayers.
The pair allegedly drove to Chemhanza grounds in Mufakose suburb where the accused produced a big snake threatening the complainant before raping her once in the car.
