Music and video streaming service Apple Music has launched a one-month-long musical campaign to celebrate Ghana month called Trotro Vibes.

For the month of March, Apple Music’s editorial team tapped vanguards of Ghanaian music including Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Efya, Da Hammer and M.anifest to curate exclusive playlists for users across the globe.

Tshwanelo Maredi, Sub-Saharan Africa music editor at Apple music, shared the news via her LinkedIn account on Tuesday.

“To celebrate Independence Day in Ghana, Apple Music is honouring Ghana’s Independence with Trotro vibes to celebrate the artists that have grown to become a thriving industry for young creatives today,” Maredi said.

Named after Ghana’s popular mode of transport, Trotro, the playlist also features other members of the new school and global sound makers such as Camidoh, Cina Soul,Yaw Tog, Kwesi Arthur, Black Sherif and King Promise.

“Named after the minibus public transport system that acts as carrier of conversation, culture and connection, Trotro Vibes celebrates the sound of the street, featuring sounds from Ghana’s new school- and it’s your road map to the country’s most dynamic emerging artists,” a statement on the platform said.

Trotro Vibes will also feature music content, original interviews and what Apple Music calls ‘essential releases’ from the artists who propel the culture forward.
